Committees
As an AMPs Committee Member, you will be required to attend all meetings of the committee and work toward the fulfillment of the committee objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Attending all meetings of the committee;
- Contributing in meetings and voicing objective opinions concerning committee issues;
- Carrying out individual assignments that are made by the committee chair;
- Assisting in recruiting committee members; and
- Reviewing all relevant material prior to committee meetings.
Awards Committee
- Manages the industry awards (AMPe) nominations process and recommends final nominee selections to the Board of Directors; process includes active efforts to increase the number and quality of nominations each year, and yearly revisions and proofing of the nominations form
- Works with the Board of Directors to analyze standards of excellence and ethics, and investigates the approach of similar associations
- Performs quality assurance checks on website as relative to committee function
- Contributes articles to the newsletter to promote spring nominations process, and to highlight the winners in the fall
- Works with Staff to coordinate the program, script and slides for the Annual Meeting/AMPe Awards Ceremony
- Provides Staff with the names and wording for award engravings by deadlines needed to avoid late charges
Community Services Committee
- Advises Board of Directors and membership of local volunteer opportunities as relative to AMPs mission
- Acts as AMPs’ community liaison/ambassador
- Responsible for coordinating participation in community service activities and recruitment of membership participation, to include generating cooperative spirit and enthusiasm among AMPs members for service activities particularly to the Carpenter Shelter
- Performs quality assurance checks on website as relative to committee function
- Contributes one article to the newsletter each month regarding committee activities
Golf Committee
- Manages the annual golf tournament, to include sponsorship solicitation, marketing, player registration, onsite volunteer coordination and logistical coordination with the course
- Adheres to budget as approved by the Board of Directors
- Drafts and collects registration and sponsorship forms and checks which are forwarded to Staff in batches to enter into the database and make bank deposits
- Develops sponsorship packages and actively solicits sponsors for golf tournament, to include sending out right-of-first-refusal letter to all previous sponsors
- Performs quality assurance checks on website as relative to committee function
- Contributes one article to the newsletter each month regarding committee activities
Investment Committee
- Coordinate and oversee AMPs investment portfolio and make recommendations to the Board of Directors with assistance from AMPs staff and an investment professional
- Reviews the investment policy as adopted by the Board of Directors and works within its guidelines
- Meets at least semi-annually
- Consists of at least four designated members of the Board of Directors, including the Chair, Vice Chair, Immediate Past Chair and Treasurer with additional Committee members approved through a majority vote by the Board
Membership-Hospitality Committee
- Develops and implements annual marketing plan to retain members and to identify and recruit potential members, within budget objectives as approved by the Board of Directors
- Researches/recommends services that might be provided to members appropriate to AMPs’ mission and strategic plan in conjunction with other committee chairs
- Coordinates and manages staffing, printed materials, signage and other giveaway items needed for tradeshow booths and member directory
- Offers recommendations for layout, content and editing for all membership materials (printed and email)
- Oversees renewal process; contacts non-renewed members to encourage renewed membership in AMPs
- Responsible for securing volunteers to assist Staff with on-site registration, name badge distribution, etc.
- Manages the 50/50 raffle program (proceeds donated to designated local charity)
- Contacts prospective and new members by phone, email or at Monthly meetings to recruit and/or welcome them to AMPs /establishes a method of recognizing new members at monthly meetings
- Assists new members with networking at monthly meetings
- Performs quality assurance checks on website as relative to committee
- Contributes one article to the newsletter each month regarding committee activities
Newsletter Committee:
- Responsible for collecting relevant information, including ads, articles, and photos, and collating it every month a newsletter is published; sends out reminders for submission deadlines as needed
- Encourages submission of articles of photos from committee and the membership at large
- Edits the articles and proofs final newsletter prior to publication
- Ensures that the newsletter is accurate, informative, impartial, and if possible, educational and entertaining
Nominations Committee
- Manages the annual nominations process for open seats on the Board of Directors
- Attends Nominations Meeting with current Chair, incoming Chair and Executive Director to discuss potential nominees, then contacts all nominees to obtain official acceptance
- Works with the Board of Directors to analyze standards of excellence and ethics, and investigates the approach of similar associations
Programs Committee
- Responsible for providing the highest quality educational programs possible to the membership via monthly meetings
- Manages programming and logistics for Brown Bag luncheon programs
- Identifies other educational opportunities appropriate to AMPs’ mission and strategic plan
- Performs quality assurance checks on website as relative to committee function
- Responsible for providing Staff with AV specs, speaker bio and program description 2 weeks prior to the meeting
- Responsible for providing a program description to Staff 4 weeks prior to each meeting to be included in invitation
- Responsible for drafting and distributing the monthly meeting survey to all attendees post-meeting, and for sending out results to all committee chairs and Staff
- Responsible for writing monthly article on program content and speaker for previous month’s meeting
Public Relations Committee
- Responsible for recommending and implementing methods to enhance the image of AMPs, including articles and notices in trade and other appropriate publications
- Advises on best method to avoid program schedule conflicts with other associations
- Serve as liaison between AMPs and other associations in the hospitality industry, to include suggesting cohesive partnerships in line with AMPs mission and strategic plan when appropriate
- Performs quality assurance checks on website as a whole
- Actively manages AMPs social media sites with general oversight by AMPs staff
- Seeks out advertising opportunities for AMPs
- Responsible for writing monthly sponsor spotlight article for venue and any other monthly meeting co-sponsors
Special Events Committee
Responsible for planning and coordinating logistics for the following:
- Summer BBQ or Trade Show event as scheduled/approved
- Three (3) additional special events outside of the association monthly meetings i.e. Holiday Reception, happy hours, bowling, wine tastings, etc.
- Recruits sponsors/exhibitors for the above events
- Manages and coordinates the registration process for these events with AMPs staff
- Prepares budgets for each event adhering to the budget objectives as approved by the Board of Directors
