Beth Surmont is obsessed with events. As the Director of Experience Design for 360 Live Media, she spends her waking hours thinking about how to maximize and accelerate association events.
As an event planner for more than 19 years, Beth’s innovative approach and out-of-the-box thinking began turning heads, generating buzz, and building audiences from the outset of her career. She learned early on that she’s at her best when faced with daunting problems in need of fixing. Comfortable with intelligent risk, she jumps at the chance to explore new challenges and the opportunity to try out creative new ideas.
Beth has worked in both the corporate and non-profit sectors. From behind the registration desk, to the trade show floor, to developing strategic content at SXSW, Beth has experience in all aspects of events.
It’s her job to be a project manager, experience designer, content curator, storyteller, motivator, leader, behind-the-scenes cheerleader, logistics director, contract negotiator, researcher, trend analyzer, innovator, visionary, partner, builder, thinker, problem-solver, entrepreneur, and customer service specialist, sometimes all within the space of a single day.
She’s been a Certified Meeting Planner since 2008. A Certified Association Executive since 2016. And served as chair of the ASAE Meeting & Exposition Council from 2016 – 2018. She currently lives in New Jersey with her wife, stepchildren, and two dogs.
